Mohamed, Amazigh guide from Marrocos Passeios

    About me

My name is Mohamed, I am Amazigh (Berber), and I come from a region where hospitality, traditions and respect for visitors are part of our identity. I grew up getting to know Moroccan culture up close, the customs of local communities and the stories that make each region of Morocco so special.

Over the years, my passion for meeting people and sharing the richness of my country led me to build my career in tourism. Working as a guide and organising trips, I realised that knowing Morocco goes far beyond visiting monuments and landscapes: it means discovering its culture, connecting with its people and living truly unique moments.

It was with this vision that Marrocos Passeios was born, a project created to offer private trips, personalised experiences and close, family-style service. My goal is for every traveller to discover Morocco in an authentic way, with comfort, confidence and freedom to enjoy every moment.

For me, every trip is an opportunity to share a little of our history, our roots and the hospitality that makes Morocco an unforgettable destination.

This 3-day itinerary from Marrakech was carefully designed to take you from the bustling souks of Marrakech to the majestic Sahara dunes, passing through imperial cities, lush valleys and Berber villages hidden in the mountains.

    Duration: 3 days / 2 nights
Route: Marrakech → Dades → Merzouga desert → Fez

    ITINERARY: 3 Days from Marrakech

3 Days from Marrakech to Fes

Day 1: Crossing the High Atlas to the Dades Valley

We start our journey early, leaving Marrakech. First, we climb the Tizi n’Tichka pass, at 2,260 metres. Along the way we see incredible landscapes. We also stop to drink mint tea with a local family.

Then we visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou ksar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This place appeared in films such as Gladiator. After exploring, we have lunch overlooking the ksar. Right after, we continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.

Finally, we reach the Dades Valley late in the afternoon. There we stay in a hotel overlooking the rock formations called the “monkey fingers”.

Day 2: From the Todra Gorges to the Sahara Desert

In the morning we visit the Todra Gorges. These stone walls rise up to 300 metres high. As we walk, we see climbers on the rocks. Afterwards, we head for the desert.

On the way we pass Berber villages and oases. Later we stop in Erfoud, known for its fossils. Finally we reach Merzouga.

In the afternoon we ride camels to watch the sunset over the desert. Then we have dinner at the camp with Berber music. Before sleeping we look at the stars.

Day 3: From the Desert to the Imperial City of Fez

We wake early to see the sunrise over the Sahara. Then we have coffee and set off. On the way we stop at the Azrou cedar forest, where we see Barbary macaques.

Afterwards we pass Ifrane, called the “Moroccan Switzerland”. Finally, we reach Fez at the end of the day. In the evening we get ready to explore the city the next day.

Amazing experience in Marrakech and Sahara Desert/Amazing experience in Marrakech and Sahara Desert I would like to share here a travel experience I had in Morocco (Marrakech/Merzouga-Sahara) at the beginning of June now (2024). I decided after researching a lot of other reviews here and on Google, as I wanted to do the desert and Marrakech. I closed a package with the guide Mohamed. Despite speaking English, I found the opportunity to have a Portuguese-speaking guide in Morocco interesting. We closed a 4-day package for me and my daughter. From the moment we landed, Mohamed was there to protect and guide us. The tour was private in a 4x4 car, prepared for the desert. On the first day we stayed in a beautiful, fragrant, first-class Riad, inside the Medina. In fact, every day the hotels/Riads/tent in the desert were luxurious. Mohamed protected us from everything (the tourist cities in Morocco have a lot of people asking for money and wanting to sell you things for exorbitant prices). We participated in a caravan in the Sahara with dromedaries heading to the tents. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! The guide Mohamed met everything we asked for, everything we wanted, in our time. Mohamed speaks Arabic, Berebre (language of the desert people), Spanish, Portuguese and English and a little French. He sang desert songs to the sound of drums with other natives and was always paying attention to us. As we were two women alone, we were afraid, but the guide (who is passionate about Brazil) was our salvation! It's really worth signing up with someone trustworthy like Mohamed. These cheap day trips from Marrakech to the desert are crazy! There is a lot to see and experience, Morocco is very big!! Imagine being in a slow van full of people??!! Look... Ask Mohamed to take you to restaurants outside the tourist attractions. The experience becomes much more real and cheaper outside of tourist restaurants that only serve chicken: the small restaurants that Mohamed knows are typically Moroccan, very well served with bread, goat tagine with incredible sauce) much cheaper for three people versus the price of the tourist ones whose price per person (starter, chicken dish and side dish) is almost the value of the non-tourist ones for three. Best investment I've made in recent years. Thank you, Mohamed, for everything! Our tour ended today, 06/08, unfortunately. Tomorrow we will go for a hot air balloon ride (all arranged by Mohamed). We are very grateful for the patience, concern and education of this friendly Berebere. I recommend it with my eyes closed. You can trust Mohamed. I paid for everything in advance (06/05 to 06/09/2024) and Mohamed arranged all our stays, tours, purchases (only advice: prefer to buy turbans and dresses, Moroccan oil, drinks and bottled water in Marrakech, it's much more affordable. Mohamed has become a dear friend and we want to welcome him to Brazil, as it's a dream of his. You can trust him, because I think it's SO WORTH IT!!
