Day 1 – Tangier – Chefchaouen

Our 6 Day Tour from Tangier to Marrakech start by meeting and greet followed by a tour of the medina in Tangier and a stroll along the coastal promenade. Tangier’s souk and markets are full of colorful vibrancy. It is a port city and important trade link for Morocco, located on a bay of the Strait of Gibraltar. Tangier has long been a famous destination for Writers and Artists to escape to; a famous Moroccan writer from Tangier is Mohammed Choukri, who befriended other literary legends on their visits to Tangier, such as Tennessee Williams and Paul Bowles. 

We then travel on to Chefchaouen, the beautiful “Blue City” situated in the Rif Mountains. A wonderful setting for some artistic travel snaps and a great place to explore the streets and artistic wares, carefully hand crafted by the local people. With many rooftop cafes and restaurants, this is an amazing place to relax and unwind. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 – Chefchaouen – Fes

After breakfast, we hit the road. Destination Fes! Fes is the oldest imperial city in Morocco and the former capital city for more than 350 years. You will discover the oldest and still functional university in the world: the University of Al Karaouine, the historical Nejjarine Fountains that were used by the ancient caravans and the famous Tanneries where leather has been made and dyed for many centuries.
A quick visit to the ceramic factory, enjoying the amazing panoramic view over Fes’ Medina. Dinner and overnight stay at Riad / Hotel.

Day 3 – Fes – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Rissani – Merzouga

After breakfast, we head to Ifrane; an Alpine village with cedar forests, inhabited by the famous and endangered Barbary Macaque monkeys! If we’re lucky, we may get to see them! We will make a stop in Azrou, a Berber village situated in the forest. Pressing on to Midelt where you will enjoy an authentic Moroccan lunch. Continuing the road trip, travelling through Tizi Ntalghamt pass and on through the striking and dramatic landscape of the Ziz Valley.

 Decorated with dreamy oases and palm groves growing along the Ziz River, stopping to take scenic photos. Travelling through Erfoud and Rissani, finally arriving in Merzouga! Enjoy a warm welcome at a hotel on the edge of the Saharan dunes, with a cup of mint tea. Relax and unwind, lounge by the pool and cool off with a refreshing swim! Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 – Merzouga area – the Camel trek and overnight in the camp

After breakfast the adventure continues! We will explore the desert and visit the Gnawa people in a village in Khamlia, they’re famous for their music. We will also visit Nomad families, still practicing the traditional nomadic life. We will then visit Rissani, a major stop and trading post on the old caravan route. The traditional souk and spice market in Rissani dazzles the senses, full of colorful wares and delicious aromas. 

Rissani is the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty. Return to Merzouga, to embark on your exciting camel trip into the Sahara Desert! It takes around 90 minutes. Stopping along the way to enjoy an incredibly beautiful Saharan sunset. Continuing the camel trek into the dunes, finally arriving at a traditional desert camp where you will spend the most wonderful evening enjoying an authentic Moroccan dinner, being entertained by the desert drums around a campfire and stargazing.

Day 5 – Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges

An early start to watch a stunning sunrise in the solitude of the tranquil and captivating sand dunes. Camel trek back to your hotel in Merzouga where you’ll enjoy breakfast and a shower. Depart for Todra Gorge, travelling through Rissani, Tinghir and arriving in Todra Gorge which is an impressive limestone landform, carved out by the river. The highest in Morocco. After lunch at the Gorge we’ll drive through the amazing Dades Valley. Have a relaxing and refreshing swim at the Riad / Hotel where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6 – Dades gorges – Ouarzazate –Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Leave after breakfast, driving through the Dades Valley, following the route of a thousand Kasbahs – full of great photo opportunities. Stopping at Kalaat Mgouna or “the rose city”. Our journey continues on to the extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. It was built by Et Hami El Glaoui; one of the last Berber Chieftains during the 18th century. It is also famous for being the backdrop of many hit films and TV programs, such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Traversing the High Atlas Mountains, we travel through Tizi ‘n Tichka pass, standing at 2260 meters high. Eventually reaching the final destination of the tour: Marrakech, where the 6 Day Tour from Tangier to Marrakech ends.
